Our Nursery

At Apollo Nursery, we believe children thrive when their environment matches their individual developmental needs, rather than just their birth date. Our carefully designed learning spaces allow children to grow, explore, and learn at their own pace.

The Under-2s Room

(Aged 6 Months – 2 Years)

Our dedicated space for our youngest children focuses on nurturing, security, and sensory discovery. We do not restrict children strictly by age; instead, we transition them based on when they are emotionally and physically ready.

  • The Baby Room: A calm, cosy, and stimulating environment where babies can safely roll, crawl, and explore sensory play.
  • The Sleep Room: A peaceful, quiet oasis dedicated entirely to restful naps, tailored to your baby's individual sleep routine.
  • Our Under-2s Garden: A secure, private outdoor area designed specifically for little explorers to experience nature safely.
  • The Flexi-Space: A unique transition zone for mobile toddlers. If they are developmentally ready, they can use this space to join in with activities in the main nursery, giving them a gentle taste of the next stage of their journey.

The Main Nursery Space (Aged 2 – 5 Years)

The Main Nursery Space (Aged 2 – 5 Years)

While many nurseries separate children strictly into rooms for 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and pre-schoolers, we do things differently. We bring them together in a vibrant, shared learning environment to create a true family feel. After all, you wouldn't separate siblings aged 2 and 4 at home!

Why our mixed-age approach works:

  • Familial learning: Children learn naturally alongside each other, creating a warm, supportive, home-from-home atmosphere.
  • Inspirational role models: Younger children thrive by watching and copying the older children, which rapidly boosts their language, social, and play skills.
  • Empathy and kindness: Older children learn valuable life lessons in empathy, patience, and care as they naturally look out for their younger peers.
  • Seamless transitions: Because children do not need to move to a brand-new room every time they have a birthday, their bond with staff and friends remains unbroken.

Our main space operates on a free-flow system, meaning children are free to move independently between different indoor learning zones and our large outdoor area throughout the day. Instead of being directed to sit at a specific table, children lead their own learning based on what captures their curiosity. This freedom of movement builds incredible confidence, encourages problem-solving, and allows children of all ages to organically meet, play, and explore together at their own pace.

Experiences: Enrichment & Everyday Experiences

Life at our nursery is an adventure. Every day, we blend standard early-years learning with extraordinary, real-world experiences. We cultivate curiosity, independence, and a deep connection to nature and our local community through carefully curated activities.

Vibrant Everyday Learning

Inside and outside, children have unlimited access to classic, high-quality learning experiences that spark imagination and build foundation skills:
  • Active Bodies & Balance: We encourage physical movement every single day. Through balance beams, stepping stones, climbing frames, and active games, children build core strength, spatial awareness, and body confidence.
  • Sensory & Messy Play: Exploring textures, shapes, and materials to build fine motor skills.
  • Sand & Water Exploration: Discovering early maths and science concepts like volume, weight, and flow.
  • Construction & Small World: Building towers, cities, and stories to develop spatial awareness and storytelling.
  • Cosy Reading Corners: Fostering a lifelong love of books and language in quiet, comfortable spaces.

Nature, Forest & Beach Schools

We believe the great outdoors is the ultimate classroom. We maximise our environment to give children regular, hands-on experiences with the natural world.

  • Weekly Forest School: Located in the beautiful grounds of our partner primary school, children participate in Forest School sessions at least once a week. They climb, explore, and build resilience in nature.

  • Daily Nature & Mini-Forest Area: Children don't have to wait for Forest School to connect with nature. Our on-site mini-forest is accessible daily, featuring a busy bug hotel and a magical fairy garden.

  • Wild Nature Garden: A dedicated, untamed space filled with plants and herbs. Children learn to care for the environment while supporting local wildlife, like bees and butterflies.

  • Beach School Adventures: For truly memorable milestones, we take special trips to the coast for Beach School, learning about marine life, tides, and seaside safety.

Proudly Rooted in Our Community

We love our local area and want our children to feel a deep sense of belonging and community pride.

  • 'Market Street' Role-Play Zone: Located in our main outdoor area, Market Street is a row of custom Wendy houses transformed into miniature versions of real local shops! Featuring genuine logos and local products, it allows children to act out community life through play.

  • Local Outings: We regularly pack up and head out on trips into the local neighbourhood, visiting the places and people that make our community special.
